Major Jay Northcut delivered a "State of the City" address on Thursday evening, Jan. 26, at a free Melissa Rotary Club - sponsored event, open to the public.
Mayor Northcut spoke to a full house at the Melissa "Rotary at Night" event. He explained many things that are impacting the city during unprecedented growth, including keeping the city taxes low and in line with much bigger cities with more land mass and retail.  He also explained how the city's management of the ETJ (Extraterritorial jurisdiction) is helping to optimize opportunity and minimize conflicts as the city grows.  Mayor Northcut showed the details of how Melissa city leaders have managed to provide the best for Melissa citizens and the future of the city.

The mayor and his staff encouraged citizens to contact the city staff and council with any questions or issues, so that they can get the latest and most accurate answers and information.

The event was held at the Crossland Learning Center (the red building) at the Melissa ISD headquarters, 1904 Cooper St., Melissa, TX  75454.
